Jamie Belcher is a member of FTI Capital Advisors in Canada, FTI Consulting’s investment banking subsidiary. Mr. Belcher has over 20 years of experience in transaction advisory, corporate finance and accounting and he has been involved in a wide range of corporate finance and restructuring mandates and special situations transactions.
Working with management, corporate boards and lenders, Mr. Belcher's advisory experience includes acquisitions, divestitures, financings, refinancing and restructurings. He has served clients in a wide variety of industries and his experience also includes serving the corporate development office of a large Canadian public company.
Engagements in which Mr. Belcher has been involved include acting as advisor: to Highland Therapeutics, in its ABL financing; Broadgrain Inc., in its refinancing; to JS Group, in its refinancing; to FIGR Inc., in its court-supervised sale process under CCAA; to Rokstad, an electric utility contractor; to Handil Holdings in its acquisition of Christmas Tree Shops, a subsidiary of Bed, Bath and Beyond; to Old Time Pottery, a U.S. based retailer, in its Chapter 11 proceedings and refinancing; to The Green Organic Dutchman, an organic cannabis producer, in its refinancing; advising on the sale process for U.S. Oil in connection with its CCAA proceedings; to Orangeline Farms, a greenhouse operator, in its sale to the Mucci Group; to the Special Committee of Urthecast; in the sale of Dundee Energy to a strategic party in the context of an insolvency proceeding; to Voice Construction in its refinancing; to a large Canadian asset manager in the sale of its interests in Gravitas, and its multiple financial holdings assets; in a refinancing for Bondfield Construction; to Danby Products Inc., a Canadian distributor of home comfort and refrigeration products, in its $150 million refinancing with a syndicate led by J.P. Morgan; in the sale and recapitalization of Nelson Education, a large Canadian publisher; advising on the restructuring and sale of Comark Inc., a Canadian retailer operating under CCAA protection; and advising on the restructuring of and sale process for the JSN Group, including Ben Moss, a Canadian jewellery company with both retail and wholesale operations.
Mr. Belcher’s experience also includes over four years at BlackBerry, formerly RIM, as a Director in the Corporate Development group. While at BlackBerry, he led seven acquisitions, with a combined value of over $300 million, as well as numerous other technology licensing and commercial transactions. Notable transactions include the over $125 million acquisition of Certicom, a leading provider of cryptography security solutions; the acquisition of a U.S.-based provider of mobile office and productivity solutions; the acquisition of a German provider of mobile device management systems; and the acquisition of a U.S. provider of mobile messaging solutions.
Prior to joining FTI Capital Advisors, Mr. Belcher was a Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal in Toronto.
