About Damian
Damián Martínez Tagüeña is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment, based in Mexico City. Mr. Martínez Tagüeña advises companies on complex public affairs and regulatory issues, as well as on reputational crises and disputes.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Martínez Tagüeña served in the Mexican diplomatic corps for nearly 20 years, most recently as Chief of Staff of the Deputy Secretary of Foreign Relations. He has also served as Consul General in Hong Kong, Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary for North American Affairs, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations-Vienna, Deputy Chief of Cabinet of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and as a political affairs officer in Japan. He has been involved in climate negotiations, cross-border cooperation and the response to political, consular and humanitarian crises, among other issues.
Mr. Martínez Tagüeña’s work has been published in leading Mexican outlets such as Reforma, Nexos and Foreign Affairs en Español. He has taught in leading Mexican universities the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (“ITAM”) and Tecnológico de Monterrey Santa Fe (“ITESM”), and currently chairs the working group on North America at the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (“COMEXI”).
Mr. Martínez Tagüeña is a graduate of ITAM and has an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School.
