About David E.
David Balkcom is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Business Transformation, Revenue Growth and Operations practice and is based in Atlanta. During his tenure within the Business Transformation practice, Mr. Balkcom has worked on merger integrations, operational and business diagnostic reviews, and operational and synergy due diligence analyses.
Prior to joining the Business Transformation group, Mr. Balkcom worked in the Restructuring practice where he worked on mandates from private equity owners, boards of directors and lenders assisting them with cash management, refinancing, 13-week cash flow forecasting, budgeting and budget-to-actual analysis. In his more than 10 years at FTI Consulting, Mr. Balkcom has assisted the key constituencies of both distressed and non-distressed companies make strategic decisions related to strategic finance, financial planning and analysis, operations and cash and liquidity management.
Through Mr. Balkcom's client engagements, he has served in interim management positions, held trusted advisor roles to executive leadership and led project management offices. He brings a financial focus to each of his engagements, enabling him to analyze the financial implications of actions taken across the engagement. Mr. Balkcom is keen to the necessity of independent evaluation of each client’s needs and the importance of collaboration with client personnel before reaching a proposed solution.
Relevant Experience:
- Leading the Project Management Office for a $5 billion business unit of an appliance company pursuing a return to profitability
- Serving as the interim treasurer of a $400 million outdoor equipment business, tasked with creating a 13-week cash flow for the multinational business
- Developing the a carve-out plan for a vital wheat gluten plant after completing an operational due diligence and advising the private equity firm throughout the transaction
- Analyzing the margin compression and forecast implications associated with rising commodity prices on behalf of the CFO of a $200 million private equity-owned packaging company
- Working on behalf of key stakeholders in the representation of a $2 billion poultry producer experiencing decreased liquidity
- Developing strategic alternatives and a potential implementation plan for an $8 billion fluid milk and dairy products company on behalf of key financial stakeholders
- Leading the day-to-day engagement on behalf of certain key stakeholders in the restructuring of a $1.2 billion fluid milk producer
