About Donald
Donald Kaplan has 18 years of experience providing construction claims consulting and critical path method (“CPM”) scheduling services. Mr. Kaplan’s expertise encompasses the development and substantiation of schedule delay claims, as well as the quantification of construction-related damages, including the analysis of loss of productivity. He is skilled in the development and maintenance of CPM schedules and regularly consults on projects during the course of construction, assisting in the identification, assessment and management of schedule and cost risk.
Mr. Kaplan has supported contractors and owners in formal disputes on numerous large-scale projects. He oversees and conducts the analysis of construction-related delay and disruption claims and performs project scheduling on a wide range of projects. His experience includes major infrastructure projects, power generation facilities, natural gas supply pipelines, complex industrial facilities, casinos, airports, hospitals, elementary and secondary education facilities, university buildings and other buildings located both domestically and internationally. He has extensive experience providing consulting services during ongoing construction in North America, South America and Australia.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kaplan was a project executive for The Rhodes Group, a leading construction claims consulting firm. He previously worked in the litigation department at RJ Lee Group, as a scientist and data analyst, where he drafted and edited a series of reports submitted as evidence in a multibillion-dollar insurance litigation concerning the environmental contamination of a building as a direct result of the collapse of the World Trade Towers.
Mr. Kaplan has a B.S. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is credentialed as a Certified Cost Professional and Planning and Scheduling Professional through the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering.
Relevant Experience:
- Led the analysis of delays and disruptions related to the construction and operation of two run-of-the-river underground hydroelectric plants plant in Chile
- Managed the analysis of schedule delays and disruptions on behalf of the EPC Contractor related to the construction of a new 600-megawatt, gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant
- Oversaw the analysis of schedule delays to the construction of a $2 billion design build project involving the construction of an 8.5-mile extension to an existing light transit rail line
