About Jackie
Jackie Yu leads the Financial Crime Compliance practice in China and is based in Shanghai. He has a wealth of experience in anti-money laundering (“AML”), sanctions compliance, fraud investigations and financial technology.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Jackie led the financial services practice at a Big Four firm, where he managed complex financial crime compliance (“FCC”) risk programmes for top tier financial institutions in China.
Jackie has also held various risk management and branch operations roles, including as the head of AML for the Bank of East Asia China, the branch operations manager at OCBC Bank and the branch operations manager at UOB Bank. He routinely dealt with regulatory enquiries and has a sound understanding of the regulatory landscape in Asia Pacific.
With Jackie’s expertise in the field of AML and sanctions compliance, the People’s Bank of China (“PBOC”) nominated him to become a member of the Financial Action Task Force (“FATF”) expert group and participated in China’s 4th FATF Mutual Evaluation — an independent intergovernmental body that develops and promotes policies to protect the global financial system against money laundering and counter terrorist financing.
Jackie regularly provides training to regulatory authorities and financial institutions, such as China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (“CBIRC”), as well as the PBOC on AML and sanctions compliance. As a Chinese private sector expert, Jackie also participates in FATF forums focusing on the formulation of international standards.
