About Mark
Mark A. James specializes in developing and executing strategic initiatives for telecom and other technology-related companies, including both organic efforts and transactions. Mr. James has primarily advised clients on network expansion, including last-mile and backbone fiber networks as well as electrical infrastructure and construction technology.
Prior to consulting, Mr. James served in leadership roles at multiple technology-related companies. He served as President and Chief Financial Officer of TerraPact Acquisitions, a private equity-backed business formed to acquire, develop and manage network infrastructure real estate. Mr. James led TerraPact through strategic acquisitions and internal investments to achieve a leading position in the market. Previously, Mr. James was Chief Financial Officer of Datavail Corporation, a managed services provider carved out of a software company and positioned for rapid growth. Between 2001 and 2007, he worked at Level 3 Communications, most recently as Vice President of Corporate Strategy.
Mr. James graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with distinction from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and graduated Beta Gamma Sigma and with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an International M.B.A. Mr. James was named a Siebel Scholar in 2000 during his studies at the Booth School of Business.
