About Matthew
Matthew Krafft is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Bethesda. Mr. Krafft concentrates his practice in dispute, compliance and investigatory-related services. He has provided consulting services and expert testimony in government and construction contract claims, Qui Tam (false claim) actions, fraud investigations, bankruptcy examinations, partnership disputes, employee non-compete disputes and lost profit analyses. He has testified in Federal District Court, The United States Court of Federal Claims, The General Services Board of Contract Appeals, The United States Bankruptcy Court as well as state courts, dispute resolution boards and mediation proceedings.
Mr. Krafft is experienced in government and construction contract related matters. He has provided cost accounting and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) consulting services to some of the largest government and construction contractors in the United States as well as to federal and state agencies. He regularly provides consulting services in areas such as cost analysis of claims, contract termination proposals, equitable adjustments and other cost-based actions as well as indirect cost rate determinations, and assistance with governmental audits.
Mr. Krafft has experience in contract matters of all sizes. He served as a Consultant to the Claims and Changes Department of the Central Artery/Tunnel (CA/T) Project in Boston, MA. The CA/T is one of the largest public works projects in history and is of a scale comparable to the Panama Canal and the English Channel Tunnel. He has also served as a consultant to a large U.S. defense contractor addressing matters related to the Commission on Wartime Contracting. He has also analyzed numerous compliance matters, pricing actions and claims for subcontractors and smaller contractors.
Mr. Krafft has served as a court-appointed Chapter 11 examiner in the United States Bankruptcy Courts in Alexandria, Virginia and Washington, DC.
Mr. Krafft is experienced in auditing and financial reporting matters. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, he was responsible for the financial statement quality control review for a regional accounting firm. He has performed numerous financial statement audits. He has assisted in the design and implementation of accounting, internal control, and financial reporting systems. He is also experienced in the financial aspects of businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
Mr. Krafft is a CPA and is a past Chairman of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants Not-for-Profit Accounting Committee and the Accounting Standards Committee. He received a B.S., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University and a M.B.A. with a concentration in managerial accounting from George Washington University.
