About Steven
Steven Soper is a communications expert with extensive public and private sector experience in navigating complex challenges in corporate reputation, crisis and issues management and public and government affairs, among other areas.
Steven’s previous experiences include corporate, government, campaign and consulting work, where he gained expertise in issues management, government relations, advertising, research, coalition building and organizing grassroots campaigns.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Steven was with ExxonMobil Corporation, based out of the company’s Irving, Texas headquarters. Most recently, he served as the Head of U.S. State Government Relations, where he oversaw a team of government relations advisors and public affairs firms and retained lobbyists responsible for progressing favorable policy conditions at state and local levels. In this role, he also represented ExxonMobil with various political organizations and trade associations, including the American Petroleum Institute, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Chemistry Council. Prior to assuming this role, Steven managed several public affairs portfolios for the corporation, including global advertising and litigation communications. Steven also served as a member of the climate policy, investor engagement and communications strategy teams.
Before joining ExxonMobil, Steven held a variety of strategic communication roles at a global strategic communications firm, in the White House Office of Political Affairs during the George W. Bush Administration, on the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign and in the political department and Chairman’s Office at the Republican National Committee.
Steven serves as an advisory board member of the University of Texas at Dallas Center for BrainHealth and the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.
