Kathleen A. Fitzgerald, J.D., CHC, CHPC

Kathy Fitzgerald has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries, serving the regulatory compliance needs of publicly traded organizations, health systems, clinical laboratories, medical device companies, academic medical centers, pharmaceutical companies and large physician enterprises.

Ms. Fitzgerald is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting’s Healthcare Risk Management & Advisory practice and is based in Richmond, Virginia. Ms. Fitzgerald specializes in the assessment, development and support of healthcare regulatory compliance programs, including building such programs from scratch, and with the handling of government investigations and federal enforcement matters. She also frequently serves as an interim chief compliance officer and bridge resource to healthcare and life sciences organizations in transition. She was also General Counsel for the nation’s largest laboratory accrediting organization and in-house counsel for a large, global, publicly traded business conglomerate. She has served as the interim chief compliance officer for North and South America for a global medical device company and as the chief compliance officer for the nation’s third largest clinical laboratory. Ms. Fitzgerald has also supported and implemented compliance and HIPAA privacy program best practices for multistate physician enterprises, academic medical centers and not-for-profit health systems and hospitals as well as conducted and implemented comprehensive compliance program effectiveness assessments.

Ms. Fitzgerald holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a J.D. from William and Mary Law School. Ms. Fitzgerald is licensed to practice law in Maryland and Virginia. She is certified in Healthcare Compliance and Healthcare Privacy Compliance.
