Gary Jacobs specializes in private equity and corporate performance improvement and has transformed business processes and systems and increased stakeholder value for numerous private equity portfolio companies, as well as public clients. Mr. Jacobs has over 25 years of experience in media, entertainment, telecommunications, technology, consumer and industrial goods, manufacturing and distribution and business services industries.
Mr. Jacobs has consulted as interim Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and as the Business Transformation Leader of Program Management Offices, Integration Management Offices and Separation Management Offices, performing pre-transaction due diligence, operational and synergy assessments, technology roadmap development, Day 1 and 100-day planning, post-transaction carve-outs, integrations, platform creations and add-ons.
Notable past public clients include Take-Two Interactive, Sirius XM, Intelsat, PanAmSat, LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics and Emerson Electric. Mr. Jacobs has led over 100 projects focused on strategic planning, financial reporting, business intelligence, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and IT program management, operational effectiveness, cost containment and merger and acquisition transactions.
Mr. Jacobs led the divestiture of Take-Two Interactive’s video game disc distribution business, in conjunction with the migration from physical to digital sales and distribution of video games and the monetization of in-game micro-transactions and related content. The transformation program involved leading the carve-out of the Jack-of-all-Games disc distribution division, and collaborating with game designers and digital distributors, such as Microsoft, Sony, Apple and Steam, to collect and assimilate digital transaction data to generate revenue and financial reporting. He also led the centralization and enhancement of back-office processes and systems, such as revenue, procurement and accounting, to realize significant EBITDA improvements.
Mr. Jacobs led the post-merger integration of Sirius and XM’s financial operations and reporting systems, including the implementation of centralized back-office processes and ERP systems, including revenue, procurement and accounting, to realize anticipated merger synergies. Previously, he led Sirius’s pre-merger cash-flow turnaround by enhancing revenue assurance, procurement, talent and contract management processes and systems.
Mr. Jacobs led the post-merger integration of Intelsat and PanAmSat’s financial operations and reporting systems, including the implementation of centralized back-office processes and ERP systems, to realize anticipated merger synergies. Previously, Mr. Jacobs provided purchase accounting due diligence for the divestiture of PanAmSat from Hughes Corp., the acquisition of PamAmSat by News Corp. and the subsequent acquisition by private equity sponsors including KKR. He also designed and implemented financial, operations and capital-project processes and reporting systems for satellite construction, launch, deployment, revenue recognition, cost allocation and amortization. Additionally, he designed and implemented legal entity restructuring and compliance reporting, to record and report complex intercompany and consolidating transactions and results.
Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and serves on the New York City Chapter’s Programming Committee. He is a frequent lecturer at Pace University on Business Strategy, Creating Value through Mergers and Acquisitions.
