Antoine Mavel leads the firm’s Canadian operational due diligence, merger integration and carve-out services. Mr. Mavel has over 15 years of experience and has been involved in more than 200 engagements for a variety of clients across the globe.
Mr. Mavel advises clients starting from the pre-deal phase with operational due diligence, carve-out assessment and synergy analysis, before his role typically expands to cover post-deal integration and separation programs with a strong focus on accelerating value creation. In addition to his experience in integrations and separations, Mr. Mavel has also led performance enhancement and operational improvement engagements.
Over the past 15 years Mr. Mavel has supported a range of private equity firms, pension funds and corporate clients across the full spectrum of operational matters. Notable engagements include a 2-month operational assessment for Brookfield Partners on Westinghouse’s $200 million turnaround plan implemented by Alix Partners, and a 6-month procurement program for TPG across multiple production sites at Aleris – a world leader in aluminum rolled products. His last projects included a business plan assessment for a SPAC focused on smart home market, a sell-side separation engagement in the oil and gas industry, and the integration of a bolt-on acquisition in the chemical sector.
Mr. Mavel has developed a particular expertise in the field of carve-out due diligence, from leading the disentanglement and separation analysis to supporting his clients with TSA negotiation and establishing future standalone costs. Notable carve-outs experience include RBC’s home and auto insurance division, over 80 stores from Bed Bath and Beyond, 200 branches from Lloyds and Goldman Sachs’ hedge fund administration department.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Mavel was an Associate Partner at EY in China where he led the Operational Due Diligence (“ODD”) and Value Creation services, before that he spent five years as a Director with KPMG in Canada where he established and led the firm’s ODD practice. Prior to KPMG, Mr. Mavel spent five years at Deloitte and Oliver Wyman in London where he was delivering operational due diligence projects primarily dedicated to private equity clients. He started his career in general management working for a mid-size French group setting up their first manufacturing plant in Shenzhen, China where he spent four years focusing on commercial activities and operational improvement opportunities.
