FTI Capital Advisors (“FTICA”) guided China Three Gorges (“CTG”), one of the world’s largest energy companies with $120 billion in assets, through two of Spain’s largest renewable energy deals and helped strengthen its presence in the Spanish energy market.
Our Impact
- Through these transactions, CTG reinforced its presence in Spain and its commitment to supporting the Spanish energy transition, with more than 20 wind farms and more than 10 solar photovoltaic (“PV”) plants resulting in more than 1GW of renewable operating capacity.
- Our work achieved attractive valuations and deal terms for CTG and established the company as a key player in the clean energy industry.
- These landmark cross-border transactions strengthened the reputation of FTICA’s M&A team within the renewable energy sector in Europe and were widely covered by Spanish and international media outlets.
Our Role
- FTICA served as the sole M&A advisor to CTG on its acquisition of a 181MW operating wind portfolio from EDP Renewables for €307 million at the end of 2021.
- FTICA also advised CTG on the acquisition of 405MW operating wind and solar portfolios in Spain.
- The two bilateral transactions of these high-demand assets were quickly and successfully executed in just four months.
