Bob Gonzalez specializes in due diligence and transaction services and has performed over 100 engagements of the type, 50 of which in the industrial products/automotive industry.
Mr. Gonzalez has close to 15 years of experience in merger and acquisition and corporate finance, including financial due diligence (both buy- and sell-side); interim management; finance function advisory; financial planning and budgeting; business plan evaluations; merger integration planning and execution; carve outs; transition service agreements; and internal control/systems evaluations. He has industry experience in automotive, technology, media, printing, mining and metals, aviation and distribution.
Mr. Gonzalez’s due diligence experience includes analyzing quality of earnings, quality of assets, working capital and identifying potential liabilities and risks in addition to performing evaluations of budgets, three-statement forecast models and other financial business plans. Specific to manufacturing companies, Mr. Gonzalez has extensive experience in cost accounting, including assessments of standard costing systems.
In regards to finance function advisory experience, Mr. Gonzalez led an FP&A support engagement for a $1 billion multinational automotive components company, where his primary responsibilities included building and managing sales forecasts; managing the construction of full P&L model, including assessment and presentation of product costing and profit margins by business segment; and leading the recapitalization advisory process, which resulted in successful refinancing. He also led a finance function advisory engagement for a $100 million web-based subscription company, where he managed accounting integration of recently acquired carve-out; assisted with implementation of Oracle for the combined entity; constructed accounting process flowcharts and training manuals; and conducted training to teach staff new accounting policies.
In regards to interim management, Mr. Gonzalez served as Interim Vice President of FP&A for a $1 billion manufacturer of polyurethane foam products, where his primary responsibilities included managing a team of 12 regional and plant-level FP&A staff to complete and improve weekly and monthly operations finance reporting; overseeing the creation of 2018 budget including analyzing and supporting budgeted cost savings; and working with company’s cost accounts to track and analyze standard costing variances. He was also the Interim Controller for a $50 million software company, where he provided monthly accounting closing; oversaw daily accounting functions and staff; prepared reporting packages for the Chief Financial Officer’s review; managed external audit process; and executed a transition to full-time Controller.
Mr. Gonzalez has consulted for various companies, private equity funds and lenders, including Wynnchurch Capital, GE Capital, Bank of America, Versa Capital, Rockbridge Growth Equity, Victory Park Capital, Grey Mountain Partners, Wayzata Investment Partners and Goldman Sachs.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Gonzalez worked as a Supervisor in the Transaction Services practice of RSM. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Audit Associate with RSM, leading financial statement audit teams in the manufacturing, wholesale and distribution group.
