About Natalia
Natalia Southern has extensive experience in providing advice to government and industry clients seeking to improve public policy and regulatory outcomes across a broad range of industries and service lines.
Natalia is an experienced senior executive and economist with more than 25 years’ experience across leading Commonwealth and State public policy, regulatory and oversight bodies. Her expertise covers public policy; economic regulation; regulatory design and implementation; policy and program evaluation; governance, risk and compliance; and performance monitoring and evaluation. She is experienced in stakeholder engagement and report writing across a range of issues and sectors.
Natalia’s strategic insights draw on her experience in several Victorian Public Service senior executive roles, including as deputy secretary of energy and resources (and subsequently resources), responsible for overseeing the policy and legislative program and performance of portfolio regulators; and as assistant auditor-general of performance audit with the Victorian Auditor-General's Office, leading more than 100 performance audits examining efficiency and effectiveness of public sector agencies and delivery of government policy and programs.
Natalia has supported various independent inquiries and investigations, including most recently the Special Manager established to oversee and assess Crown Melbourne’s reforms in response to the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence.
