About Brent
For more than 30 years, Brent Bersin’s practice has focused on providing financial and economic consulting, damages quantification, valuation and expert witness services to clients in the context of intellectual property and commercial disputes. Brent has significant intellectual property experience, including market assessments, valuation, licensing and the calculation of reasonable royalties, lost profits, unjust enrichment and price erosion damages in matters involving unauthorized use of trade secrets, trademarks, trade dress, patents and copyrights.
Throughout his career, Brent has assisted attorneys, investors, management and other stakeholders in assessing the value of early- and later-stage technologies, patents and intellectual property portfolios for various purposes, including taxable transfers, sales transactions, licensing, intercompany transfers and collateral for financing transactions.
Brent possesses substantial experience providing economic analysis and expert testimony in complex commercial disputes, which have included issues of lost profits, breach of contract, restrictive covenant violations, valuation and breach of fiduciary duty. Additionally, he has been involved in disputes related to unfair competition, lost business value, tortious interference, non-competes and restrictive covenants, alter ego and post-acquisition and purchase price disputes.
Brent has been designated and testified as an expert witness in federal court, state court, bankruptcy court and arbitration matters. He frequently presents and is published on the topics of economic damages, valuation and financial and forensic accounting issues. Additionally, Brent has been named to the Who’s Who Legal Recommended Expert Witnesses — Commercial Litigation list, as well as the Who’s Who Legal Thought Leaders — Commercial Litigation — Expert Witnesses list.
