David Morris is the Leader of FTI Consulting UK, Head of UK Restructuring and the COO of Corporate Finance for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”).
David has more than 30 years of experience advising stakeholders in complex, stressed and distressed financial restructurings. David advises lenders, corporates, investors, governments and regulators in many sectors, including retail, financial services, business services, industry and consumer products, energy, construction and technology, media and telecom across both listed public companies and private equity-leveraged transactions.
David’s experience spans global complex matters with debt facilities of up to £10 billion to mid-market private companies. He has also acted as an expert witness.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, David was a partner at Ernst & Young, and before that, he worked at Arthur Andersen.
David is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Member of the Institute for Turnaround.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised the €10 billion debt restructuring of Steinhoff
- Advised the €1 billion lending syndicate in DIA, the third-largest supermarket in Spain
- Advised the revolving credit facility (“RCF”) €1.6 billion syndicate on Wirecard
- Advised the board of The Collective, a co-living owner and operator with £600 million of debt, on its financial restructuring
- Advised the £1 billion lending syndicate on the restructuring of The Co-op Group
- Advised the lenders in respect of Esken Plc’s restructuring and recapitalisation
- Advised on the Ted Baker plc restructuring and refinancing
- Advised the Chapter 11 Trustee on the MF Global bankruptcy
- Advised the debt syndicate on the financial restructuring of Slater & Gordon, a listed law firm
- Advised a lending syndicate on Paperlinx, an AUD6 billion listed paper merchant
- Advised a leveraged buyout (“LBO”) lending syndicate on Princess Yachts
- Advised the inventory financing lender to Essar Stanlow, an oil refinery
- Advised the lenders of Keepmoat, a £1 billion property developer and contractor
- Advised the UK Government and Bank of England on the development of the £40 billion Energy Markets Financing Scheme
- Advised the UK Government in respect of Gazprom’s UK businesses following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
- Named liquidity and solvency expert witness acting for defendants in the case of Silentnight, the largest UK manufacturer of beds and mattresses
