About Calvin
Calvin Lee has industry experience across the financial, automotive, energy and mining supply chain and physical commodity traded markets. Mr. Lee has more 15 years of advising on inorganic and organic growth projects, operational and financial improvements and restructurings.
Mr. Lee has worked with clients spanning the energy spectrum, including oil and gas upstream (exploration and production), midstream, downstream, oilfield services, industrial metals and mining companies and power plants. His engagements have included advising Ruby Pipeline LLC, ION Geophysical Corp, Ultra Petroleum Corp., the senior lenders of a publicly-listed global metals processing company, the unsecured creditors of FirstEnergy Solutions, Noble Group and the unsecured creditors of Vanguard Natural Resources.
Mr. Lee’s experience includes business plan analysis and development, industry and product market analyses, financial modeling and contract negotiations in various geographies. He has worked on both buy-side and sell-side engagements involving both private and public entities. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Lee was responsible for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and structured finance activity for Trafigura, one of the world’s largest global physical petroleum and minerals commodity traders by volume. All engagements synthesized financial, commercial and technical analyses for the firm’s long-term asset investments in the oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream/marketing verticals.
Prior to that, Mr. Lee evaluated numerous investment opportunities in the liquid and bulk midstream terminal space with Kinder Morgan Inc. (NYSE: KMI). Mr. Lee also was responsible for post-acquisition integration and crude oil trading growth projects for Fortis Energy Merchant Banking’s EUR330 million acquisition of Cinergy Marketing and Trading. Mr. Lee started his career as a project management engineer at Edison International’s San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and garnered several internal awards for outstanding performance under short timeframes.
In addition to English, Mr. Lee speaks Spanish, French, German and Mandarin Chinese.
Relevant Experience:
- Acquisition, development and USD1 billion sale of a bulk liquids storage, refining and marine logistics facility located in South Texas
- Evaluation of debt restructuring options for a privately-held multibillion-dollar greenfield refinery project based in Tamil Nadu, India
- Financial evaluation and feasibility for a USD1 billion investment into a truck and marine logistics network to bring Colombian crude production to export markets
- Valuation and structuring of a USD110 million Argentinian bulk liquid storage terminal providing refined products storage, pipeline and marine facility to service the fuel logistics needs for a major power plant near the Parana river
- Evaluation of financial and commercial participation in a USD50 million Mexican-based 50kbpd processing and fractionation greenfield facility joint venture with MGI, the Mexican government’s natural gas-focused subsidiary
