About Thomas
Tom Kelly specializes in financial advisory and operational business transformation services for private equity-backed and not-for-profit academic physician practices. With more than 15 years of industry experience in healthcare finance, accounting and operations, Mr. Kelly possesses a deep understanding of physician organizations. He excels in delivering margin improvement and financial transformations, emphasizing operational efficiencies and improving processes.
Mr. Kelly has successfully built and led healthcare finance teams, focusing on strategic business planning and creating analytics-driven insights to guide decision making. Additionally, he has served in finance leadership roles at a Harvard-affiliated faculty practice plan, a national for-profit physician group and a health system malpractice self-insurance trust.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Mr. Kelly was the vice president of finance for a national multispecialty for-profit medical group with more than 1,700 providers and $1 billion in annual operating revenue. In this role, he oversaw accounting, business intelligence, financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”), revenue recognition, M&A and supply chain functions. During his tenure, Mr. Kelly successfully integrated a newly acquired physician group into the organization’s financial reporting systems and business intelligence infrastructure. He also led pro-forma development and due diligence for the potential sale of specific regional markets and service lines.
In a previous role, Mr. Kelly was the controller and director of finance for a Harvard-affiliated physician group and associated community physician group, which grew from $490 million to $720 million in annual revenue during his tenure.
Mr. Kelly earned his B.A. in healthcare administration from Stonehill College and his M.B.A. in interdisciplinary business from Johns Hopkins University.

- Provided financial advisory services to private equity-backed and not-for-profit physician enterprises, ensuring operational efficiency and financial accuracy
- Led engagements providing interim FP&A and business intelligence support, including for a national physical therapy portfolio company, aiding in the development of dashboards and advising on compensation plan redesign to align with strategic objectives
- Advised a rapidly growing behavioral health portfolio company on a new cost allocation approach for accurate region-specific profit and loss statements (“P&Ls”), enhancing financial transparency and efficiency
- Provided revenue recognition advisory services to multiple healthcare clients, implemented a scalable cloud-based model for a rapidly growing company and delivered critical financial analyses to support a large faculty practice plan (“FPP”) in negotiating funds flow arrangements with a hospital
