Sanjeev Bahl’s work at FTI Consulting has focused on the quantification of damages and lost profits in the energy sector, including those arising from bilateral investment treaty (“BIT”) arbitration, alleged misconduct and breach of contract. Sanjeev’s experience spans the oil and gas value chain, including oilfield services and more recently offshore wind, carbon capture, usage and storage (“CCUS”) and hydrogen.
Sanjeev has been appointed by a consortium of oil majors to advise on valuation issues related to a joint operating agreement (“JOA”), and has contributed to the preparation of expert reports before LCIA, UNCITRAL, PCA and SIAC Tribunals. This includes four matters with claimed quantum in excess of $1 billion.
Sanjeev has more than 20 years of energy sector experience, having worked in industry at ExxonMobil, investment banking at Credit Suisse and Deutsche Numis (formerly Numis Securities which was acquired by Deutsche Bank) and consulting at Edison and FTI Consulting. During this time he has valued companies and assets across the energy sector value chain (including upstream, downstream, services and industrials) and spanning over 35 countries.
Sanjeev holds a First-Class Honours M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from University College London and has completed a three-year part-time executive programme at the London Business School, including modules in financial reporting, accounting, strategy and marketing. He was trained in upstream profitability analysis at the ExxonMobil Upstream Research Centre (“URC”) in Houston.
